One of many things that I love about being a part of the world of weddings is seeing trends take shape and come to life for a couple’s special day. Whether your wedding is this upcoming year or next year these are some of the wedding trends you may want to include in your big day.
The focus of modern weddings have been more about telling each couple’s love story rather than following conventional practices. This love story can be told through the decor chosen, the script for the officiant, the people involved in the wedding day (like the adult flower boy), and even the catering chosen.
One of our weddings did a dessert table that their families contributed to, which prompted fun stories from grandma sharing about the first time her grandson tried her peanut butter cookies and allowing coworkers to finally try aunt Susan’s pie they’ve talked about for years.
Other ways, we have seen people breaking tradition is incorporating others in the first look. One way we have seen this play out is that the wedding party joins the couples to read the vows in a private setting. Making it an unforgettable experience to have your hype crew there while keeping it mostly private and intentional.
We’ve also seen these breaks of tradition come to play in years past with “flower grandma’s” (which I still love!) and it’s only natural that it would progress to an adult flower boy trend.
In recent years, couples and guests alike have started to realize a dream wedding is a day that brings your favorite people together – not any one specific thing or wedding trends.
This one is a classic but I don’t see it changing any time soon, outdoor ceremonies often come with lush greenery that make for the perfect venue.
We still have to manage the quirks of Missouri weather but that’s easy to do with a good mindset.
We’re definitely bias, but we have some incredible outdoor ceremony options at Juniper Gardens across two different locations. With another woodland ceremony site in the works!
The DRAMA that can come from an unexpected veil can just put the wedding photos on another level. We have seen a rise of vintage style veils, and also more modern takes like this pleated veil that regularly pops up in my suggested ads.
We have loved seeing long veils, colorful veils, and ones that have more texture. It adds a bit of drama or playfulness to the wedding day attire, and also gives you something to play with during couple’s photos.
Weekday weddings have been a common option to save on wedding costs but still get the full experience. Many wedding vendors discount their weekday pricing and just have more availability even during peak months. These weekday weddings often take place around dinner time allowing their guests time to get off of work and join them for a quick ceremony and an evening of special events.
When I talk with couples considering a weekday wedding, they share they are concerned that more of their guests will not show because of work schedules. We haven’t seen this to be the case but these have also been smaller weddings with about 100 guests. Still one of the interesting wedding trends to consider.
While a fall wedding is always a big hit, it’s become the most popular time for weddings and wedding vendors book up quick. Which has led to more and more couples considering a winter wonderland celebration instead. We think the winter weddings will only grow in popularity with more design styles and interests coming into play!
The overall design of a wedding is often the fun part of planning a wedding. We’re seeing more and more couples with pinterest boards that are just full of organic textures and warm colors. Really mimicking the trends in home design as well. The benefit of this design style is that it is welcoming and down to earth. And warm hues are not limited to fall weddings, we’re seeing warm colors being embraced by spring, summer, and winter weddings alike! The warm colors work well to incorporate more vintage styles too, if you need more inspo on Mid-Century Modern Wedding styles, we have easy inspiration ideas to check out here.
Most of these organic textures and warm colors can come out in a wedding day through floral arrangements, table linens, and wedding attire. But you could also create a diverse backdrop for your ceremony that is unique and special to your love story.
I wish you al the best in your wedding planning! And I hope we get to show you around Juniper Gardens to see if our Missouri Wedding Venues would be perfect for your wedding day!
